Swing Tip by Geoff Tollefson - Arboretum Club Head Professional
As we approach the end of winter and approach spring, most golfers should capitalize on this "down time" to enhance their strength and flexibility. Many golfers are now welcoming physical fitness more than ever and the local health clubs are becoming more populated with the golfing public. Golfs can use weight training to increase strength, flexibility, and muscular endurance. Strength in golf is of little use without flexibility - most men need more flexibility than strength. The opposite is generally true for women, they need more strength. Since golf is primarily a rotary activity, exercising the rotary movements of the trunk is extremely important. Make sure to utilize this time of the year to work on your fitness. It helps develop balance and allows the athlete to assume advantageous biomechanical positions. See a physical trainer at your local health club and feel stronger for 2009!
